The Derbyshire Debate
Chief Constable of Derbyshire Constabulary Mick Creedon will be taking part in Derbyshire’s very own version of Question Time when he becomes part of a panel at ‘The Derbyshire Debate’ at the University of Derby on November 30.
He’ll be joined on the panel by Chairman of Derbyshire Police Authority Philip Hickson, as well as other panellists with great local influence and knowledge.
Politics, the economy, the media and of course law and order will all be up for discussion in the ‘Debate’, which borrows the format from the long-running BBC TV programme but adds its own county flavour.
Audience questions will be put to them during the event at The Courtroom, at the University’s Kedleston Road site in Derby, from 7pm-9pm on Wednesday November 30.
The entire panel will consist of:
• Professor John Coyne, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Derby
• Mick Creedon, Chief Constable of Derbyshire Constabulary
• Steve Hall, Editor of the Derby Telegraph
• Councillor Philip Hickson, Justice of the Peace, Chairman of Derbyshire Police Authority and leader of Derby City Council
• The Rt. Revd. Dr Alastair Redfern, the Bishop of Derby
• Deborah Fern OBE, Local Businesswoman
The panel chairman for the evening will be Ben Jackson, presenter of BBC Radio Leicester’s weekday Breakfast Show.
Professor Coyne said: “This will be a great opportunity to debate what the current economic, social and political context means for our county.
“It is also an opportunity to hear first-hand from people leading some of the key pillars of our community. I am looking forward to it but I know that we can all expect a challenge, which is a healthy position to be in.”
