Green Party Candidate - Chapel and Hope Valley - David Mount

Voters in the High Peak will have an opportunity to ring the changes when they go to the polls next month, as the Green Party puts forward its first ever candidate for the area. David Mount, who lives in Edale, has been selected to stand in the Chapel and Hope Valley electoral division.

David, 55, has lived in the area for 25 years and works as an environmental consultant and trainer. A married father of three, he is actively involved in the his local community and is an elected member of Edale Parish Council.

“As people are becoming more aware of the threats to our climate and environment I think they’re also wondering whether the old style politics can deliver the change that’s needed,” says David. “I question that too and that’s why I’m offering myself to be their voice at County Hall.”

David is one of five Green Party candidates who’ll be standing in the election in a bid to inject fresh energy and enthusiasm into the work of the County Council. They want to break the three-party mould in local politics and support policies that equip us for the next 100 years, rather than the 100 or so days till the next election.

“We’re delighted David has agreed to represent us in Chapel and Hope Valley,” says area Green Party organiser Jane Temple. “He’s well known locally as a person of integrity who will put people and the environment first and above the tired old arguments of party politics.”

As a county councillor David has pledged to keep up a dialogue with local residents and will be happy to answer questions about his/Green Party policies during the campaign.
