I have lived in Long Eaton my whole life and in the same house for the last 21 years. I am a Governor at both Grange Primary School and Wilsthorpe Business and Enterprise College and take a keen interest in the education of my two daughters.
As an enthusiastic cyclist I am concerned about the safety on our roads and would like to see more investment in the provision of better public transport systems and safer streets for our children to play and enjoy.

As a keen green laner with a disabled son, what is the party’s policy on motorised access to the green lane byways? Over the years, users of vehicles have been quite often slated particularly by ramblers & cyclists. The result has been that less than 2% of the countries byways are left for use by those who wish to explore the countryside by vehicle.
I don’t think the Green Party has a specific policy relating to vehicle use on the countries green lanes and byways although we are committed to gaining access for all to our national treasure, the green spaces.
My personal opinon regarding motorised access to green lanes etc is the same as access for all other forms of transport and that is that providing the route is suitable for the ‘vehicle’ in question, courtesy is given to other users of the route and that no damage to the environment is caused by the passage of the ‘vehicle’ then we should be tolerant of the needs and requirements of all sections of society wishing to enjoy our countryside.
In general I would prefer us all to use the least damaging and most appropriate means of transport, for us all as individuals, to go about our daily lives.
